Web page authoring is made easier than ever in Word 97. You don’t have to learn a new interface to create great looking web pages – you simply apply your Word learning and where appropriate we extend the interface to give you HTML specific functionality. Word gives you the authoring capabilities to incorporate any multimedia element you want in your web page, easily. You can create great looking web pages without knowing anything about HTML tags. Word’s offering in the web page authoring arena is unmatched by any other word processor.
Word lets Web page authors incorporate background sound seamlessly in web pages. Authors can specify the location of the sound file to be played and the number of times to play it.
Note: Background sound is supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer which is available with Office 97.
Word makes adding video equally easy. You can choose a video clip to play, specify playback options such as on open or on mouse over or both, and as in the case of sound, specify how often to play the clip. Authors can also specify alternate images and text for browsers that don’t support inline video.

Inserting pictures in a web page is no different than inserting a picture in a standard Word document. We use the simple and familiar Insert Picture dialog to add a link to the picture of your choice.
