Microsoft chooses Baarns Consulting to premier the SiteBuilder Network Site of the Month

Sylmar, CA - Today, Baarns Consulting Group, Inc. was chosen as the first site to premier the new Site of the Month category on the SiteBuilder Network.

Several pages of review material can be found on the Baarns Site or visit the Microsoft SiteBuilder Network Site regarding Baarns.

Baarns has produced a full-featured site that is dedicated to helping people who use Microsoft Office. This site has recently been re-organized into 7 sites to facilitate finding vital information. With over 600 web pages using Active Server Technology, there is something for every Office user.

Microsoft chose Baarns as their premier site in part due to the breadth of material available. Additionally, the number of Microsoft Internet applications to which Baarns has a shown commitment in their Internet development is impressive. These include:

  • Microsoft Internet Information Server 3.0 with Active Server Pages
  • Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 Operating System
  • Microsoft SQL Server 6.5
  • Microsoft Exchange 5
  • Microsoft Index Server
  • Microsoft Visual InterDev™
  • Microsoft FrontPage™ 97
  • Microsoft Visual C++® 5.0 Development System
  • Visual Basic® Scripting Edition
  • Advanced Data Objects (ADO)
  • Microsoft Visual SourceSafe™ 5.0 Version Control Software
  • Microsoft Access
  • Microsoft Word 97
  • Microsoft Excel 97
  • Microsoft Notepad

"Being chosen as the premier Site of the Month for the SiteBuilder Network is a great honor," reports Tony Hardin, Webmaster for the Baarns site. "Several members of our design and development team spent many hours with Microsoft’s case study writer to produce this first Study. It is a clear representation of what Baarns is all about. The web site allows the members of the Baarns team—regardless of the department they work in—to feel like they are part of one cohesive company."

Recently the 400+ page site was re-designed and broken into seven individual sites, which are all inter-connected, with the use of Global, Remote, and Local links. This concept of three levels of navigation allows the Baarns site to be effectively navigated by anyone. Minimizing the number of links to choose from was a primary goal of the re-design. "Our studies show that if a user is given too many choices at once, they cannot find the material they are looking for," says Hardin. "The use of three distinct types of links, located in three different common areas, has already had a dramatic improvement on the amount of information found, and the time a user chooses to invest in the site."

As a Level 3 Member of the Microsoft SiteBuilder Network, Baarns is committed to the Internet development path outlined by Microsoft.
