Posted July 31, 1996
Word has a number of viewing options that allows the user to see a document in different respects. Draft view is an alternate way to display the screen in Normal and Outline view. The benefit of this view is that it is faster and easier to read than nondraft because of the increased contrast. as it uses the same size font. Especially in cases when you are composing a document, it may be necessary to view the words themselves rather than how they will appear. Therefore, draft view is normally used when composing a document, rather than formatting one. In draft view, all character formatting is displayed as underlined. To add draft view to the menu:

When creating or editing a document you may want to include text that you don't necessarily want printed, such as reminder notes, reference notes, etc.. How do I insert a manual page break?
Keywords: Insert Manual Page Break
Posted February 7, 1996
Frequently when you want your pages to be organized or printed in a specific way, it is helpful to add a manual page break. To set a manual page break, position the cursor where you want to insert the manual page break and select Insert - Page Break. To remove page breaks, select Insert - Remove Page Break.
Both automatic and manual page breaks appear as dashed lines on your worksheet. However, you can tell the two kinds of page breaks apart by noting that automatic page breaks use smaller dashes with more space between each dash that the manual page breaks.
Caution: Adding text after creating a manual page break can sometimes cause a problem. If you add a great deal of text before a manual page break, and not all of the text will now fit on one page, Word will insert an automatic page break to fit the text on a different page. This could result in your manual page break being after a single paragraph of text. Another good way of properly displaying your document would be the use of Keep with Next in the Format - Paragraph dialog box.
